  • What Restrains You

The Pharisees were the religious leaders of Jesus' day.  They were the godly example to the people.  The Pharisees led the people.  When Jesus, the Word for their day, came on the scene, they did not recognize that He was the Messiah that they were waiting for.  In fact, they wanted to kill Him.  The Pharisees had a strong desire to get rid of Jesus.  They wanted to do this as quickly as possible.  So, what restrained them from getting rid of this Man?  Why would they not just kill Jesus?  The Pharisees were restrained by the law.  There were however two laws: the law of regulations and the law of expectations of the people.  They would have killed Jesus if they could have.  But they were restrained by what a Pharisee should be.  They had to live within the confines of how a Pharisee should behave.  It was in them.  It was in them to kill, to totally destroy this Jesus.  The spirit that was in them was made evident during the time that they killed Stephen.  They certainly had a form of godliness, but that's all it was was an empty form.

What about today?  Are there things that you or I would like to do?  Things that we would do, but don't do only because we are restrained by a form of religion?  If it is not deep in our soul to hate sin, we will find ourselves accepting the subtleties of sin.  It will creep in our lives in an innocent, harmless looking way.  We must be convinced and we must be able to convince others of what we believe.  We must not hesitate to call sin sin.  We must take a stand for what we believe or we will be no better than a modern day Pharisee.

  • Thanksgiving

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and He heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and Thou heardest my voice. For Thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all Thy billows and Thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of Thy sight; yet I will look again toward Thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast Thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto Thee, into Thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto Thee with the voice of THANKSGIVING; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land

Jonah had to be in the belly of the fish for three days to finaly be thankful.  This is a week in which we celebrate Thanksgiving.  We all have many reasons to be thankful if we think about it.  Some of us may feel like we are in the belly of a whale, but that's ok.  Where ever we are there is reason to give thanks to God.  Perhaps if you offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving God will cause that fish to vomit you out.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving

  • Jesus asked

This is something that Brother James could appreciate.  I had a dream last night...In the dream I saw Jesus.  He was off a short way and was speaking to someone there.  He had asked for something.  I can't now remember what it was, however, it was something for comfort like a pillow or something.  The person that Jesus was talking to did not give Him what He asked for.  Then I thought Does that person not know Who this is?  Well He is Jesus; He can make whatever He wants to make with only a Word.  At that I was shown many things that Jesus had done without throughout His life.  I questioned, Why would God, who can do anything and make anything, go without.  Then the Voice turned on me and my inward parts.  "Can you do without your desires to better serve Me?  How should you act when you are made uncomfortable?"  Then I knew that Jesus did not have a physical kingdom on this earth, but a heavenly kingdom.  Like Peter and John said, "Silver and gold, we have none..."  They could not have afforded to buy a wheelchair for the man, but instead gave healing.  His riches are in heaven.  The only riches on this earth which we can take to heaven are souls.  We can't bring SUV's or homes or jobs.  Getting what WE want is unimportant.  However, God does want us to speak His Word and get what HE wants us to have.  Healing, Blessing, manifestations of His grace, revelation of His Word.  The thing to do is live like Jesus lived and say not my will but Thy will, Oh Lord.  Could we ask for a greater life than Jesus?  Then why so often do we?  We are more concerned about our needs than the will of God or the needs of others.  In the parable of the sheep and the goats, the only difference between the sheep and goats was how they treated other people in need.  Jesus said that those people in need were Me.  So, would we have offered Jesus a pillow?

  • I know, it has been awhile.  The Bible does say to be slow to speak.  So I'm going to say this real slow.  On the way home from work today, God dealt with me is a very profound way.

Have you ever made the statement, "I'll be glad to just make it to heaven."?  I know I did.  I always use the theory that since it is heaven and there won't be any sorrow, I'll be happy just to get in.  Of course, I realize that I am unworthy and that it is only by God's grace that I can be found righteous enough, through Jesus' imputed righteousness, to enter into heaven.  I also know that works, no matter how many or how good, can never be good enough, for we all fall short of the glory of God.

With that said, do you think that God is pleased with the attitude of His children to be content with just making it in, while we strive, struggle, press in, diligently seek, and by great effort try to obtain the things of this life.  We work longer hours to pay for that car, go on vacation, or please our earthly boss.  We sacrifice our energy and time to meet an earthly deadline that will serve our earthly needs.  We argue and beg with a salesman to get a better deal to save our hard earned money.  We sacrifice earthly comforts to be able to take a vacation.  But we are content to just make it...into heaven.  My, my, my.  Do you think that God is displeased?

He has given us the keys to the kingdom...the revelation of the Word of God.  He has given us the gate of our enemy, the devil.  He has given us authority and power.  But what do we do with all of that?  We are just content...to just make it....into heaven.

There is nothing that is impossible for God.  He said that we have but to ask.  If we realized the gift of God, the authority and power which we have, and all that is available to us, we would be on our knees begging, pleading, interceding for our lost loved one, for that family member's soul, for victory in our lives.  If we knew the blessings that God wanted to pour out to us, we would earnestly ask Him with all our heart and He would bless us.  But we are content with just making it....into heaven.

Will Jesus find faith when He returns?  Will we be considered a good and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ?  It does not matter who you are, what status in life you have, how much money you have in the bank, or who your parents are.  You have the authority from God to WIN! You can draw on the check account of heaven and ask what you will; so what are you going to do?  Are you going to be content with just getting into heaven?  When you pray, stop thinking only of yourself and pray for others.  Pray the Word.  Pray like you mean it.  Pray like it is important to you.  Pray like God wants you to pray.  Pray victory for all believers everywhere in Jesus' name.  Pray that the powers of the devil are broken throughout the world.  Pray that all of God's children call on the name of the Lord and are healed.  You have the authority to do just that.  You can affect the whole world if you are willing to just press in and ask God.  So what are you going to do.  Are you going to affect the whole world or are you going to be content with just getting into heaven...??
